I just downloaded the entire series of the Video Blog that Baz Luhrmann is producing in conjunction with his new feature, Australia. I would highly recommend this to any filmmaker, videomaker or movie fan. It’s an interesting insight into the “ins and outs” of filmmaking at the ground level. The vods aren’t that long, but the thing that I like about them is that you get some great visuals of the rigs that Baz and his DP, Mandy Walker use. The two of them really dream up some incredible shots and it’s inspiring to see that type of scale. The work that I do is on such a smaller scale and usually involves camera’s mounted on robotics, traditional tripods, dolly’s and maybe a jib. But nothing nearly as some of the stuff you’ll see in the DP vod in this series.

Open up iTunes, go to your podcast directory and search for “baz luhrmann” and you’ll find it.
Enjoy!

Hey folks,
So the 2nd SXSW post has taken about a month to materialize. What can I say? It’s been busy. Anywho, I’m going to go on an editing tirade and cut up a bunch of videos for Rockin’ moms as well as some other stuff I did at the Amoeba party and maybe some Old Man River video. We’ll see.
I also recently shot a viral for Laughlin Michaels PR firm in conjunction with 3 degrees marketing that I’ll see if I can post. If not, I’ll throw the youtube link up.
That’s it for now…more soon!

Just back yesterday from South by Southwest in Austin, TX. A little tired after a 12 hour travel day, but other than that, it was a great trip.
Tiffany had a great show at the convention center and I had a great time on some shoots throughout the festival.
Our first gig was shooting the Amoeba Music Label artists at The Compound. We filmed an interview with Quincy Coleman, Brandi Shearer and Kate Walsh and then had the pleasure of filming their live performances.

I was brought in on this gig by Ray Schlogel at Underground planet. If anyone is ever in need of a shooter in the Austin area, please give Ray a call. He’s a solid guy and very talented. He’s also a Sony PMW EX1 owner operator! Click on the banner below to get in touch with him.

After the Amoeba party, the next bit of business was filming two shows for Australian up and comer Old Man River. This band is great fun and was a blast to shoot.

Their music is catchy and they were a definite fan favorite at the festival. Thanks to Troy Barrott from Hub Artist Management for booking Kilroy Films on the job.
That’s it for now but I’ll be posting some footage and stills as soon as I catch my breath.
Thanks!

Hey folks,
We’re off to SXSW next Wednesday. Tiffany’s going to be promoting Rockin’ Moms on the tradeshow floor and I’ll be helping her out as well as doing some of my own work.
I’m set to film Old Man River from Australia as well as working with Ray Schlogel at Underground Planet to film the Cosmic American Music Experience.
I’ll also be filming from the trade show floor and will try and post some short snips from Austin. I may be pretty busy, so apologies if I get too hung up to post anything. If anyone’s planning on being there, shoot me an email or call and we’ll get together. I’d love to see what other pmw ex1 shooters are doing while they’re in Austin.
Big thanks to Ray from Underground Planet. Check out his site and book him for any shooting needs in Austin.
That’s it for now. More later!
