Baz Luhrmann - Apple/iTunes Vod

September 10th, 2008

I just downloaded the entire series of the Video Blog that Baz Luhrmann is producing in conjunction with his new feature, Australia.  I would highly recommend this to any filmmaker, videomaker or movie fan.  It’s an interesting insight into the “ins and outs” of filmmaking at the ground level.  The vods aren’t that long, but the thing that I like about them is that you get some great visuals of the rigs that Baz and his DP, Mandy Walker use.  The two of them really dream up some incredible shots and it’s inspiring to see that type of scale.  The work that I do is on such a smaller scale and usually involves camera’s mounted on robotics, traditional tripods, dolly’s and maybe a jib.  But nothing nearly as some of the stuff you’ll see in the DP vod in this series.

Open up iTunes, go to your podcast directory and search for “baz luhrmann” and you’ll find it.

Enjoy!

PMW EX1 Overcrank and timelapse tests

February 18th, 2008

I took the Sony PMW EX1 out today and did some tests within the S&Q menu.

Overall, I was very happy with the results.

The two overcranked files are a bit big due to the added fps…so you may need to wait a little longer for those to start to stream.

The timelapse were shot at 1080 30p at an accumulation of 1 frame per second (for the clouds) and 2 frames per second (for the street corner). This is all done through the S&Q sub-menu in the video menu on the PMW EX1.

Enjoy and let me know if you have any comments or questions.
