Hey Rob,

Unfortunately I don't know that particular tripod with this camera. I'd advise posting your question on dvinfo.net in the PMW - EX1 forum. There's a wealth of info there and someone may have a fix.

I would think that there's an adapter to use with smaller format cameras though.

Thanks for posting.

I was wondering if you have ever used the EX1 on a tripod like the Sachtler Video 20-II? We usually use a smaller tripod for this camera but only want to take one tripod on a shoot for use with the F900 and Ex1. The problem is that when attached to the Sachtler wedge plate, the EX1 twists, no matter how tight the screw is tightened, because there is no locator pin for the larger Sachtler wedge plate. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Rob

I see that you're very fond of the EX1. I was wondering if you've had a chance to use it for narrative storytelling and how it's treated you. I was thinking of getting one but I'm a bit scared of some of the stuff I'm reading in the forums like the rolling shutter and 24p flicker.

Pete,

It depends on what mode you're shooting in. The PMW EX1 has several options (1920 x 1080/59.94i, 29.97P, 23.98P, 1280 x 720/59.94P, 29.97P, 23.98P). And that's just in the HQ mode.

There's a S&Q menu where you can change the fps and it varies depending on whether you're shooting in 720, or 1080...here are the specs:

720P
1 to 60 fps as recording frame rate

1080P
1 to 30 fps as recording frame rate

For some more details, check out the tech specs on Sony's site: http://www.sonybiz.net/biz/view/ShowProduct.action?product=PMW-EX1&site=biz_en_EU&pageType=TechnicalSpecs&imageType=Main&category=XDCAMCamcorders

Thanks and let me know if you have any more questions...it's a great camera!

Could you tell me the following about the ex1:

What frame rates are possible for time lapse? I'm looking to do things at one frame every few minutes, even hours. Possible?

Is there a loop record feature where the first few seconds of a take are recorded over and over as you wait for something to happen on film?

Are there compression artifact issues with this camera?

Thanks,
